Today’s Anniversary

Do you know what anniversary this is?

I didn’t either, but thanks to Google, I do now!

Today marks the 130th anniversary of France delivering the Statue of Liberty to the United States.

Check this out:

The Construction of the Statue of Liberty

I love that Google shares this information – what a great way to keep up with our history!

In 2000, I had the privilege of visiting New York City for a few days after a software conference in New Jersey with my Alaska Accounting girls.  What an amazing experience.  I plan to take the boys to see the area when they are a couple years older, however the landscape has changed a bit since my visit.

This trip was quick, but we saw quite a few things in our short stay.  A large amount of history for our great nation is showcased on Ellis Island.  Even though I have visited, travel here is something that will remain on my bucket list for a while.  You simply cannot see it all in one or two visits.

Time with friends.
Meeting new ones.
Enjoying each other’s company.
Telling stories.

And the discovery of new amazing coffee!!

(You can roast your own at home?!  YES YOU CAN!!!! Thanks Dave.)

We enjoyed a wonderful visit with Uncle B this week.  It was hard to say goodbye!  The boys are even more excited for their hunt this fall.  I don’t blame them one bit!

Test Test Test

This is just a test to find out if google will cooperate with me using Windows Live Writer.

Fingers crossed!!!

And life goes on

I was feeling accomplished and happy this weekend!

I had spent some time playing with photos today and actually had the majority of a blog post typed!  It included photos and notes and thoughts and ideas …

And then I didn’t save the draft.

And it was gone.

Just like that.

And life goes on.

So now here I am struggling to remember what I was trying to say – what I was trying to share – what is really important about the day and this stage of life in our household.

And I just can’t remember.

I write random things down nowadays – but so much more seldom than I used to and I know I’m missing lots of little things.

And I miss not having that be a normal part of my life.

At some point I need to accept the new “normal” in my life.

I can’t quite explain what it is yet, but this daily life that I am trying to live just does not feel normal or right … but it truly is my right now

And for having a “right now” I am thankful.
