………………………………………………………..…….

the kids had “inside recess” this week at school – that doesn’t work so well for us, so I threw them (figuratively of course) outside after school the other day – at first they cried, “do we have to?!” – the answer was a resounding “yes

and after 15 minutes I said, “are you ready to come back inside?” and they cried “do we have to?!” – the answer (of course) was “nope!”

a messy desk … again … maintenance has not been my strong point lately with keeping my office clean … BUT tomorrow is a new day!

items from our menu

does your family have a special menu?
I mean special words for foods?
things people ask for that not everyone understands?

I ask because we do … all made up as the kids grew and chose names along the way that made sense to them … this is a short list:

paypakes (pancakes)

Payton coffee (chai tea)

Grandpa eggs (eggs over easy that Gpa Jim makes)

Payton wine (sparkling grape or apple juice)

Payton beer (V8 juice in small can)

yes … a theme … Payton named many of these …

oh, there’s also this one that Jarrett named:

curly noodles (ramen)
no haters … my kids eat ramen sometimes …

so there you have it … maybe we should start a restaurant?

or then again … maybe not …

checking out a blog I recently discovered:

Capture Your 365

………………………………………………

are you thinking of following along?
I’m trying
take one photo every day
any photo
a bunch of photos
document your life!
do you remember the layout of your bedroom 15 years ago?
what does your front entrance look like after the kids get home from school?
get down on the floor – shoot from that direction
have you taken a photo of yourself lately?????

documenting our lives is important
it’s important for us
it’s important for those in our lives
it’s an important part of history

………………………………………………

is taking one photo a day too much?
try this instead:

twelve on the 12th
(take 12 photos on the 12th of every month)

OR

week in the life
(capture a week of your life in photos – any week!)

Something Fun – LMFAO

The boys love the music to this song:

Sexy and I Know It – LMFAO

The video to that is a bit much for kids to watch (and even a bit visually painful for me), BUT … I just discovered Elmo singing this song!  And it’s great – see for yourself:

Elmo and I Know It

We just love Elmo – even more now. Smile

A manifesto

Have you seen Pinterest?  It is so much fun to look at.  A great place to lose track of time as well … I find so many interesting things out there.  Check it out by clicking here:

Pinterest

I bring up this site because I discovered a “blog manifesto” out there today.  And I was reminded that this blog is for me … a place to write and share what I like.  I won’t feel guilty because I don’t write much or write consistently … I’ll just write when I can.

You can read the full manifesto here:

The Blogger’s Manifesto

have a great evening Smile

what you CAN do

compliments of TUT yesterday in my inbox:

“What you can do with your life has little to do with what's going on in the world.  And everything to do with what you see as possible.”

God Bless America!!

it’s all good.

Yes it is.
This from my lovely friend Tara is a great reminder for me … this mug is SUPERsize … holds just under 1 quart of coffee … a full 28 oz of java fits into this gem … perfect!

………………………………………….

A fresh start to a new year causes me to entertain the thought of Project 365 one more time. In 2009 I tried very hard to take at least one photo each day to document our lives. I accomplished this … almost … I succeeded about 90% of the year … which is pretty good when you consider I took photos at least 320 days during 2009.

Why would anyone do this?

Simple … take a look at this post on Photojojo from a few years back to understand my reasons:

Project 365

The main thing I am thankful for when looking back at Project 365 in 2009 for me is that I documented the entire year before Alan passed. I took photos of our ordinary lives … not just events, but simple experiences. We don’t always remember how the piles of dirty laundry or dirty dishes looked … or how little the boys feet or hands were compared to the adults in their lives. We remember the big things mostly … some of the small things, but not always all the details.

It was my attempt to document some of the details.

IMG_0022_thumb[10]

And it’s my attempt to do that again for us in 2012.

………………………………………….

One Little Word

I chose a new word for 2012 … my “one little word” as Ali would say … that word is:

olw_thumb[2]

According to the Webster’s definition I found on line, this means “to gain knowledge or understanding of or skill in by study, instruction, or experience”.

If you’re not familiar with “one little word”, but would like to learn more, check out the class here:

One Little Word – by Ali Edwards

I have not taken the class, but I do follow Ali’s blog. (That sounds a little like “no, I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV” or “I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night” doesn’t it???)

I enjoyed choosing a word for last year and thinking about it rather than beating myself up over a list of resolutions I didn’t follow or maintain. It’s just easier for me right now.

………………………………………….

Now that’s it’s mid afternoon on a Saturday, I think I’ll make my kids some lunch … they might be getting hungry. Smile
